Donald D. Bertram, age 69 of Little Rock, Iowa died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at his home in Little Rock, IA.
Memorial service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 22nd at 1st Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, IA, with Rev. Scott Burdsall officiating. Inurnment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock.
Family will be receiving the public on Thursday, September 22nd from 9:30 until the hour of service at the church in Little Rock.
Donald Dean Bertram was born November 16, 1946 in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Rudolph and Hazel (Struble) Bertram.
He grew up on a farm west of Ireton, IA and attended country school during elementary years and graduated from West Sioux High School in 1964.
After his education Don worked in construction before joining the U.S. Airforce in 1964.
He was honorably discharged and returned home where he married Diane Harvey.
They were blessed with two children, Shane and Jodi.
During this time he worked on the family farm and continued working construction.

He was married to Carolyn Weyer in 1974 and they were blessed with two children, Jason and Virginia.
He worked various places such as A.M.P.I., Exopak in Sibley, IA, Cargo Body in Rock Rapids, IA and Sudenga's in George, IA, before retiring in 2013.
He was an active member of the Buss-Johnson American Legion Post No. 316 in Little Rock, IA, serving on the Honor Guard for several years.
He also was a member of the Town & Country Association.
He participated in many parades in the area.
Don enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, Walker Texas Ranger and MASH on television.
He enjoyed trains, air planes and camping.
Don had a love of nature, especially Bald Eagles and his two favorite dogs, Queenie and Bert.
Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and extended family.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bertram of Little Rock, IA; four children, Jason (Brenda) Bertram and Virginia (Michael) Wibben, all of Little Rock, IA, Shane Bertram of Faribault, MN and Jodi Lewis of Des Moines, IA; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Nema Heider of Apple Valley, MN, Marlene (Ken) Wright of Sioux City, IA, Marilynn Young of Arizona and Linda Pearson of St. Paul, MN; one brother, Rudolph Bertram Jr. of Ireton, IA; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Pete and Hattie Weyer; a sister, Rosalie; brother, Les Bertram; three brothers-in-law, Nick Weyer, John Heider and Bob Pearson.
