Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda (Eason) Van Zyl of Venice, Florida, were held June 24, at the United Presbyterian Church of Alton, Iowa. Reverend Clarence Greving officiated with burial in Nassau Township Cemetery.

The men’s quartet from Newkirk sang. Pallbearers were the five sons and one son-in-law.

Mrs. Van Zyl died June 22 at a Sioux City Hospital after a short illness. She was 74 years old.

She was born March 11, 1896, and married Reverend Bart Van Zyl December, 1930. He passed away May 8, 1949. They lived in Holland, Nebraska, Chicago, Illinois, and Holland, Chicago, Illinois, and Hollandale, Minnesota. After her husband’s passing she made her home in Newkirk, Iowa, and Florida.

Survivors include sons Fred of St. Paul, Minnesota, George of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and daughter Emilia, Mrs. Ray Hibma of Harris, Iowa; stepsons Harold of Elmhurst, Reverend Robert of Wyoming, Michigan, Ray of St. Paul; and stepdaughter Marian, Mrs. Robert Vander Hart of Decatur, Indiana; brothers John of Sanborn, Ernest of San Diego, California, Alvin of Algona, and Fred of Alton; sisters Mrs. John (Emilla) Koppenol of Venice, Florida, and Mrs. Harry (Zella) De Jong of Orange City; and 25 grandchildren.

Coming from a distance to attend the funeral services were friends and relatives from Edgerton, Hollandale, and Worthington, Minnesota; Algona, Cherokee, Harris and Sanborn, Iowa. Her sister from Venice, Florida, and a nephew, Fred S. Eason from San Diego, California, also came.
