Sioux County Capital July 8, 1948

Dies after long illness
Mrs. George DeJong died at five o’clock in the morning, July 7, after a long illness with cancer. She entered Grossmann Hospital last October, and passed away quietly on her 60 th birthday. Her husband was with her at her death and she had had a visit with her children the evening before.

Funeral services will be held Friday in the home at 1:30 and in the American Reformed Church at 2 o’clock. Rev. LeRoy Nattress will officiate at the house, and Rev. J. Veldman, Rev. H. Colenbrander and Rev. F. B. Mansen at the church and cemetery. Burial will be here and pallbearers well be Conrad Luymes of Sioux Falls, William Behrend L. L. Luymes, Edwin Aalberts, Ray De Jong and Marvin Vander Wal.

Mrs. De Jong (Nellie) was born July 7, 1888, the daughter of Tennis Luymes. She was married December 20, 1912, to George De Jong, who survives her with their children, Evan of Sioux City and Miss Myrl of Orange City. There is also ne sister, Mrs.J. F. Behrend of Sioux City, the only surviving member of the Luymes family. Mrs. De Jong was preceded in death by three brothers, Chris, Herman and Ike Luymes.
