Mrs. Hubert A. De Jong, age 86, died May 19 at the Orange City municipal hospital. Funeral services were May 21 at the Reformed Church at Maurice. The Rev. Donald Lenderink, pastor of Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City officiated. Burial was in Sherman Township cemetery near Maurice. Van Etten Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Mary Mouw on October 14, 1887 to Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Mouw of Alto, Wisconsin. She was married to Hubert DeJong on March 9, 1911 at Orange City. The family farmed in the Maurice, Newkirk and Boyden areas until 1950 when they moved to Maurice. Mr. De Jong died in 1962.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Wielenga of Orange City; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Winifred Kreykes of Sioux Center. Two children preceded her in death; June in 1928 and Envin in 1934.
