Allen Powell 65, of Alcester died Wed. Nov. 25, 2015 in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday Dec.1 at Nathanael Lutheran Church, Alcester. Burial followed at Brule Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elk Point.
Allen Powell was born Feb. 12 1950 in Hawarden, to Emery and Pearl (Talbot) Powell. He attended school in Alcester until going to work for Otis Radio. He married Laura Ludwig. The couple resided in Alcester where Al worked at Alkota Cleaning Systems until retiring in the early 1990s due to health. He loved watching NASCAR and was an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. He also enjoyed guns and target shooting. He will be remembered for always having a stash of candy to help brighten anyone's day and his tall tales of how he hunted down holidays meals.

His survivors include two children, Chris (Becky) Powell of Sioux Falls and Tonya (Stacy) Rasmussen of Alcester; seven grandchildren; two brother, Gerald (Susan) Powell and Gordon (Elaine) Powell, all of Sioux Falls; a sister-in-law, Marlys Powell of Beresford; and many nieces and nephews and relatives.
Allen was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
