Sioux County Capital February 27, 1958

George De Jong dies at Cutlerville MI; rites set Friday at Boyden George De Jong, who formerly lived and worked in Orange City, died early this week at the Cutlerville Institute, according to word received Monday night by Rev. Henry Colenbrander. Dr. Colenbrander was contacted by Mr. De Jong's only son, Rev. Jerome De Jong of Engelwood, Illinois, who, asked that Rev. Colenbrander conduct the funeral services for his father — to be held from the First Reformed church at Boyden, Friday afternoon at 1:30. The body will lay in state at Van Etten Funeral Home Thursday evening.

Attend De Jong Rites Rev. and Mrs. J. De Jong of Englewood, IL. were guests for several days last week in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Vander Stoep. Mrs. De Jong is a daughter of Mr. Vander Stoep. They accompanied the body of Rev. De Jong's father, George De Jong who had pass ed away at Pine Rest, Cutlerville , Mich, earlier that week. Mr. and Mrs. Vander Stoep and Mr. and Mrs. Bert . Vander Weerd attended the funeral of Mr. De Jong at Boyden Friday afternoon. Rev. and Mrs. De Jong accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Vander Stoep to LeMars Friday evening and left by train for their home near Chicago.,

( From the 1925 Iowa and 1920 Fed. census George de Jong son of John and Anna DeJong born abt 1880 lived in Sheridan Tsp Sioux county IA. Wife was Dena Smit born about 1889 dau of Albert Smit and Jantje Kuyper. They had on son Jerome in the 1925 census.)
