Gerrit De Jong aged 75 of Orange City dropped dead of heart failure while up town Monday. He was an uncle of Henry De Jong.

(According to a family report on ancestry.com, he was born 25 June 1843 died 8 Dec 1919. His parents were Koenraad De Jongh 1802-1866 and Wilhelmina Verbeek 1816-1884. In the 1910 census of Holland Tsp Sioux county there is a Gerrit De Jong born about 1844 in Neth, came to USA in 1847 was married to Jantje VanPeursem born 1845 Holland, married 30 Jan 1868 Pella they had a son George 22 in 1910, other children were, Koenraad, Peter, Jeannette, Willemina, Minnie, Tryntje, Geertje, Neeltje, Jan H. and George ).
