Levi Boyles, aged 14, son of Mrs. Louis (McCormick) Dittmer of Hawarden, passed away in the soldiers orphans home in Davenport, Iowa, last Thursday, January 17. His remains were shipped here, arriving Sunday morning. Levi suffered from a heart ailment and when he became ill with pneumonia he had no chance to combat the disease.

Funeral services were held at the Ross Funeral Home at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon with Reverend W. V. Bell in charge. Interment was in Grace Hill Cemetery. Burial was not until Wednesday morning due to the fact that his brother, Raymond Boyles, who is in the navy and stationed in Connecticut, did not arrive in Hawarden until Tuesday night.

Levi Boyles was born in Hawarden on September 21, 1931, and spent his early days here. A number of years ago he went to Davenport to live. Besides his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Lou Dittmer; six brothers and two sisters, Guy and Henry Boyles of Hawarden; John and LeRoy Boyles and Floyd Johnson who are in the United States Army; Raymond Boyles of the United States Navy; Mrs. Margaret Johnson of Vancouver, Washington, and Anna May Boyles of Davenport. His father and two brothers preceded him in death.
