Sioux County Capital October 21, 1965

Mrs. 0. De Jong funeral rites held Monday. Funeral services were held at the First Reformed churchat 1;30 p.m. Monday, October 18, for Mrs. Otto De Jong, 70, who passed away Thursday evening following a months illness. Mrs. De Jong had suffered a stroke and complications set in.

Services were conducted by Rev, Raymond Van Heukelom and Rev. Robert Bast with burial made in the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Thomas J. De Jong, Thomas I. De Jong, Thomas Noteboom, Howard Heynen, Kenneth Douma and Gerald Brunstlng.

Mrs. Hattie De Jong was born October31, 1894 in Alton, la., and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jella Douma. She was married to Otto De Jong on February 23, 1916 and to this union five children were born.

Survivors include the widower; three daughters, Mrs.Marion (Esther) Muilenburg, Mrs. Anthony (Ethel) Aberson of Orange City, Mrs, Earl (Betty Lou) Aalberts of Boulder, Colo., two sons, Tom De Jong of Carnes, la.; and Dr. Gerald De Jong of Denison, la. Also 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; two brothers Oscar Douma and John Douma of Hull; two sisters, Mrs. Luke Brunsting of Hull and MissTracy Douma of Sioux City. Preceding her death were her twin brother, Jake Douma, also Gossen Douma, Neal Douma and one sister, Mrs. C. Heyman.
