Edith Bouma, daughter of Joute and Akke (Ottema) Bouma, a young woman employed at the Orange City Telephone Office committed suicide Friday night by taking carbolic acid.

Despondency caused by ill health was said to be the cause for the act.

She had called up a central in a neighboring town and told her of her plan and before anyone could reach the office she had committed the act.

She died a half hour from the time she was found.
