ATSE DE JONG DIED
Atse De Jong was born in Lemmer Province of Friesland, the Netherlands, son of Joost De Jong and Jacobje Haitjema. In March 1893 he came to America and four years he worked near Orange City. February 11, 1897 he was united in marriage at Orange City to Miss Jetsche Terpstra. The first II years they lived in the Newkirk vicinity and then moved to a farm near Boyden where they also resided 11 years after which they lived on a farm north of Hull. In Dec. 1927 they retired from active farm work and moved into town. Mr. De Jong died on Dec. 8th 19i4 having had paralysis of the spine for several months. Mrs. De Jong preceded him on June 18th, 1940.

Five children mourn the loss of a devoted father namely Joe of Sanborn, Iowa, Gerrit of Bellflower, Calif, Jacob, Clarence K. and Jacob all of Hull, also 17 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. R.K. De Jong in the Netherlands. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 12th in the Christian Reformed Church in Hull. Rev. J. Haaenburg his pastor officiating. Burial was In Hope Cemetery under the direction of Claerbout and Van Etten. Pallbearers were Case Elbers, Ed Dykstra, Ralph Griters, Lane Heemskerk, Don Meylink and John Meyer.
