Funeral services were held at Trinity Reformed church in Orange City Friday for Richard De Cook, 92, who died July 24 at the Orange City hospital. He had resided at Orange City since a child, and was in the hardware business there from 1902 until his retirement in 1940.

Survivors include his widow; seven children, Mrs. Wm. Korver of Orange City, Mrs. Chas. Gasser of Lawton, Mrs. Marie Saunders of Holland MI, Mrs. Peter Van Es of Newark NJ., (Mrs.)? Melvin A Beyers of Princeton, IL, Lawrence of Grand Rapids MI and Bernard of Wheat Ridge CO; 23 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren.

(The 1925 Iowa census lists Richard De Cook born about 1875 living in Orange City IA, wife Martha born abt 1880, children Elsie, Marie, Laurence, Bernard. Richard’s parents listed as Dirk De Cook and Bessie VanderMeide. Martha was daughter of Henry Duven and Josephine Holdinga.)
