Mr. Marvin Vander Wilt, age 92, of Hull, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, June 17, at 11:00am, at the Hope Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Loren Kotman will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. There will be a prayer service on Friday, at 10:00am, at the CHURCH.

Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Thursday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the CHURCH.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Marvin Anthony was born on April 22, 1924, on a farm by Boyden, the son of Antony and Minnie (Kosters) Vander Wilt. He attended a country school and the Boyden High School through tenth grade. He farmed with his father, until he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the Philippines on the U.S.S. Catskill, from 1944 to 1946. After proudly serving for two years, he returned to farming with his father.

On December 15, 1948, he married the love of his life, Alberta Vande Pol. They made their home on the family farm after his parents moved to town. Alberta passed away on March 5, 2016, in Sioux Center.

He was a faithful member of the First Christian Reformed Church and loved going on vacation with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his two daughters and their husbands, Marge and Don Van Voorst and Karen and Bruce Vander Ploeg, all of Sioux Center; four grandchildren, Dan Van Voorst, and his wife, Melinda; Amy Van Voorst; Mark Van Voorst; and Brent Vander Ploeg; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters and their husbands, Muriel De Jongh and Wayne Robinson, and Marlys and Jerry Ten Haken; two sisters-in-law, Delores Vander Wilt and Johanna Van Surksum; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Edward and Betty Vande Pol.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lynda Beth; a brother, Clifford Vander Wilt; a sister-in-law and her husband, Jeanette and Bill Baartman; and two brothers-in-law, Marlo De Jongh, and Billy Van Surksum.

Memorials may be directed to Hope Haven in Rock Valley.
