Kevin Fant, 49, of Ireton, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 following a motor vehicle accident in rural Plymouth County, Iowa. Kevin's family will conduct a memorial service at a later date.

WESTFIELD, Iowa-The body of a deceased Ireton, Iowa, man was found early Tuesday morning in an overturned van in a creek in rural Plymouth County.

According to a release by the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office, dispatchers received a call at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday that a motorist had spotted debris on County Road K-18 near Weber Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that a 2005 Ford van had struck the bridge railing and was on its top in the creek.

After further investigation, authorities located and recovered the body of 40-year-old Keven E. Fant, of Ireton, from the vehicle.

Fant was taken to Floyd Valley Hospital by Akron, Iowa, Ambulance.

Investigators have determined the van was northbound on K-18 when it approached a curve in the road, and the driver failed to maneuver and left the roadway, striking a guardrail. The impact sent the vehicle airborne, and it then struck the creek embankment on the north side.

Assisting the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office were Akron Fire and Ambulance, the Hawarden Police Department and the Plymouth County Secondary Roads Department.
