John De Bruin, Alton Resident Many Years, Passes
John De Bruin died at 3:00 a.m. Monday morning March, 8, at his home in Alton after a short illness. A resident of Alton for many years, he was born March 31, 1891 in the Netherlands to Albertus and Johanna Lubberhuizen De Bruin and came to this vicinity when a small child. He was employed by the C&NW Ry. as a section worker for many years, and retired ten years ago. He was a veteran of World War I and served overseas.

He is survived by a brother, Bert of Hollandale, Minn., who arrived in Alton Monday to make funeral arrangements. Two brothers, Henry and Joe, preceded him in death. Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Van Etten Funeral Home, with Rev. Maze officiating. Pallbearers are Clarence Smoot, Edward Mulder. John P. Mulder, Ben Minten. Pete Vander Poppe and Albert De Bruin, a nephew. Burial will be in Nassau Township cemetery.
