Died: 1957William Jacob Boomgaarden, 63, died at his home in Hawarden Tuesday morning after suffering a stroke.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 this afternoon (Thursday) at the Barnard Funeral Home and at 2 o’clock at the Methodist Church with Reverend C.E. Custer in charge. Interment will be at Grace Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Boomgarden was born in Lynn County, Iowa, June 15, 1893, a son of Jacob and Harmanna Boomgarden.
On April 11, 1917, he married Miss Susanna Lamfers at George, Iowa. They farmed near Holland, Minnesota, a number of years before moving to Iowa. They farmed south of Hawarden until they moved into town four years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, and a daughter, Effie Mae.
Survivors include the widow, Susanna; two daughters, Mrs. Amanda Rysdam of Ogilvie, Minnesota and Mrs. Anje Giffrow of Stanchfield, Minnesota; four sons, Benjamin of Burbank, California, Jake of Pipestone, Minnesota, Ralph of Woodstock, Minnesota, and William, Jr. of Hawarden; two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Grown of Little Rock, Iowa, and Mrs. Anna Ackerman of Worthington, Minnesota; five brothers, Jake of Sibley, Iowa, George of Ellsworth, Minnesota, Louie of Magnolia, Minnesota, Albert of Baudette, Minnesota, and Herman of South St. Paul, Minnesota; 29 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
