Louis S. De Boer, 67, of Boyden, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the United Presbyterian Church in Boyden with the Rev. John Goertz officiating. Burial was in the Boyden Cemetery. Visitation was after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, with the family present from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in
Boyden.

Mr. De Boer was born May 31, 1923 at Hull, the son of Siebren and Jessie (Beuckens) De Boer. He married Fannie Meendering March 14, 1947 at Rock Valley. She died Oct. 10, 1972. He married Shirley Petitt Feb. 14, 1975 at Sheldon. He farmed in the Boyden area from 1947 to 1986. He had been a resident of the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Boyden.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Clayton (Janice) Post of Rock Valley, Mrs. Gene (Sandra) Harmelink of Brantwood, Wise., and Mrs. Jolene Burgess on Monmouth,Ore.; a son and daughter-in-law, Sherwin and Helene of Tolleson, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Peter (Sadie) Hibma of
Boyden; a brother, Simon of Sheldon; seven grandchildren; four stepsons and three stepdaughters-in-law, Gary and Donna Petitt and Keith Petitt, all of Sheldon, and Ed and Rhonda Petitt and Scott and Wanda Petitt, all of Boyden; and five step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
