Mrs. Nick Slager Passed Away Last Week Saturday
Friends and relatives were saddened last week Thursday March 6th when they learned of the death of Mrs. Nick Slager who passed away at the Hull hospital that afternoon. Mrs. Slager had been ill for the past many months suffering from cancer.

Mrs. Hattie J. De Boer – Slager, nee Scholten was born on November 1, 1896 at Alton Iowa and passed away on March 6, 1941 at Hull IA having reached the age of 54 years, 6 months and 5 days. She was married to Gossen De Boer on February 2ft. 1907, at Alton, Iowa- To this union, six children were born: Donald of Hull; .Robert of Burlington, Iowa, Augusta (Mrs. Harold Bolks) of Hull; Chester of Hull, Gladys of George IA and Bernard, a student at Iowa State College.

After her marriage to Mr. De Boer they moved to a farm south of Alton and in the Spring of 1910 the family moved to their farm six miles northwest of Hull, where the deceased lived until the time of her death. Mr. De Boer passed away on Sept 27, 1924. On March 14, 1927 she was united in marriage to Mr. Nick Slager, who with the children survive. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, two sisters—Mrs. Henry Aalders and Mrs. Jake Cambier of Alton, and four brothers—Evert Scholten of Sheldon, Dr. Dick Scholten of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Bert Scholten of Holland, Michigan, and Henry M. Scholten of Boyden.

Funeral services were held on Monday, at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Harold Bolks. at 1:00 o'clock, and at the First Reformed Church of Hull at 1:30. Her Pastor. Rev. G. H. Douwstra. officiated, speaking on the 23rd Psalm, which had been a last request of the deceased. Rev. R. A. Jager assisted with the services. The Hospers and Boote Quartet sang- "Going Down the Valley" and Aids of the church sang "God Will Take Care of You''—both being requested songs. Interment was in Hope Cemetery.
