Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock from the home and at 1:30 P.M. from the First Reformed Church for Mr. Martin Boersma who passed away suddenly on Monday afternoon March 10th at the home of his daughter Mrs. Sylvester VanRooyen near Sheldon, where he and his wife were visiting for the day.

Services were conducted by Reverend G. Docter of Sibley formerly of Hospers, assisted by Reverend Bovendam of Matlock.

Mr. Boersma was born September 6, 1875 on the farm just west of Hospers, where he continued to reside until their retirement November 6, 1950. They moved into a home in Hospers which they had purchased. He was married to Ella Hofmeyer on February 13, 1902 and on February 13th of this year the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Two children were born to this union Winnie (Mrs. Sylvester VanRooyen) and Herman both of Sheldon, besides his wife and children he is also survived by two granddaughters, Helen (VanRooyen) Blankers, and Eleanor VanRooyen of Sheldon, also 4 sisters, Mrs. Rena Hofmeyer, Mrs. Jane VanDonselaar, and Mrs. Martha Hofmeyer, all of Hospers and Mrs. John Visher of Lake Crystal Minn., one brother Gerrit Boersma of Clear Lake, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Lubert and Jake.

Pallbearers were Cornie Rensink, Pete VanMeeteren, Joe Hoffs, Harold Langenhorst, Louis Alons, and Jacob Peters. Burial took place in the Hospers Cemetery.
