Harry J. Boersma, of Hospers, passed away on February 11, 1990 at Sioux City. Services were held on Tuesday, February 13 at the First Presbyterian Church in Hospers, with Reverend Brian Janssen officiating.

Harry J. Boersma, the son of Jacob and Josie Hofmeyer Boersma, was born August 31, 1913 in Sioux County near Hospers, Iowa. He attended schools in Hospers.

On December 22, 1944 he was united in marriage to Marie Hoitsma in Clear Lake, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple settled on a farm west of Hospers where they farmed until their retirement in 1982. At this time the couple moved into Hospers.

He passed away on Sunday, February 11, 1990 at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, reaching the age of 76 years, five months and 10 days.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hospers and had served as an Elder and Deacon. He had also served on the Board of the Farmers Co-op Elevator of Hospers.

Harry leaves to cherish his memory his wife Marie of Hospers; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Becky Boersma of Alton and Donald and Flori Boersma of Hospers; two daughters and sons-in-Iaw, Shirley and Lee Fernstrum of Primghar and Helen and Jim Babcock of Moville; also 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son and daughter-in-law, LeRoy and Florence; parents; one brother, Herman; and one sister, Leona Raak.

Arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
