One of Oldest Residents Of Hawarden Dies
Ellenor Caton Dawson, one of Hawarden's oldest residents, died Tuesday on her 95th birthday at the Hawarden hospital. She had been ill 20 years. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) at the Methodist church with Rev. Robert Chapler of Sioux City, former Hawarden pastor, in charge, assisted by Rev. Chester Custer. Interment will be at Grace Hill cemetery with the Barnard Funeral home in charge.

Mrs. Dawson was born October 9, 1861 at Leadmine, Wis. She received her education at Leadmine and Plattville, Wis. Two weeks after her marriage to Charles Dawson on February 20, 1889, the couple moved to a farm in Union county, Dakota Territory, where they remained 30 years. In 1919 they moved to Hawarden where Mrs. Dawson resided until her death, having lived in this community 68 years. She was preceded in death by her husband who died on April 11. 1938, and by two of their children, the youngest son, Charles, who died September 5, 1941, and Thomas, who died on January 7, 1952.

Mrs. Dawson was a member of the Methodist church since she was 15 years of age. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary, having been affiliated with the Mother's club until her illness prevented further participation. She retained her memberships and interest in the organizations until her death.

Survivors include a son, John of Hawarden; three daughters, Miss Anne of Hawarden, Mrs. Viva
Marshall of Doon, and Miss Laura of Northfield, IL
