OBITUARY
MRS EFFIE DE YOUNG

Mrs. Effie De Young, daughter of Sebe and Elizabeth Neinhuis, was born Sept. 15, 1873, in Chicago, Ill. She came to Rock Valley in 1905 with her father and sister Elsie who both preceded her in death. In 1907 she was united in marriage to Charles Postma who passed away in 1916. In 1921 she was united in marriage to Roel De Young who passed away in 1944.

She was a great lover of music and put forth every effort to study music. She had been church organist for 45 years. She taught in Sunday School for 48 years and for many years was active in missionary societies, and in her younger years, in C. E. [Christian Endeavor] society. She had no children and was the last survivor of a family of nine children. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

In October 1958 she fell in her Rock Valley home and broke her hip. She was taken to the Community hospital in Sioux Center. As soon as the Nursing Wing was ready, she took residence there and remained till her death on July 4, 1961.

Funeral services were held in the First Reformed church in Rock Valley on Friday afternoon, with the Rev. H. Poppen officiating, and burial in the Valley View Cemetery, under the direction of the Coop Burial Ass'n of Sioux Center, Iowa.
