Frank Bockelman, a well known resident of Chatsworth, passed away at 1:30 Monday afternoon at his home there following a long illness from heart trouble. He had been bedfast for about five months and the end was not unexpected.

Funeral services were held at 10 o’clock this morning at the Catholic Church in this city, in charge of Reverend Father P.J. Connelly, and interment was made in the cemetery here.

Frank Bockelman was born in Germany February 28, 1854, and died at his home at Chatsworth April 18, 1927, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 18 days. He was united in marriage with Mary Schleikelman and the family located just at the west edge of Chatsworth in 1891. Ten children were born to them, three of whom died in infancy while two, Mrs. George Burnight and Lawrence Bockelman, died during the flu epidemic in 1918 within two weeks of each other. The children, who with the widow, are left to mourn his loss are Mrs. John W. Harvey of Charles City, Iowa, and Mrs. Ernest Hendricks and Tony, Chris, and Albert Bockelman, all of Chatsworth vicinity.

Frank Bockelman was well known to the residents of both this and the Chatsworth communities. He was a successful farmer, accumulating large land holdings in the Chatsworth vicinity. He was strictly honorable in all his dealings with his fellow men and his death is sincerely mourned by a wide-circle of long time friends.

Relatives from a distance who came to attend the funeral included Mrs. Tony Balster, sister of Mrs. Bockelman, of Jamestown, North Dakota; Mrs. Will Callan, Mrs. Clem Kobbleman and Frank Koolbeck of Salem, South Dakota; Mrs. J.W. Havey of Charles City, Iowa; Clem Schleikelman of Sibley, Iowa; and Mrs. Clarence Lusk and Abe Smith of Bigelow, Minnesota.
