From the Alton Democrat, June 10, 1916 -- Rock Valley news:

John Lameyer died at his home in Rock Valley Saturday, June 3d, of dropsy, in the 73d year of his age. Mr. Lameyer came with his family from Holland to Rock Valley in 1901, ad by industry they succeeded in acquiring a comfortable home, and lived a quiet and unassuming life. He leaves a companion and four children to mourn his demise. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Reformed church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. B. De Jong, after which he was laid to rest in Valley View cemetery.
