From the Alton Democrat, March 18, 1916: Rock Valley news:

Mrs. Ellen Linnan, who died in the 91st year of her age at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Fitzpatrick, at Madison, S.D., was brought here last Saturday for burial. Her husband, Michael Linnan, died some seventeen years ago and since that time [she has] lived with her daughter, Mrs. James Fitzpatrick. Mr. Fitzpatrick was a pioneer settler of Sioux county, but a few years ago he sold his farm and moved to Madison, S.D. The bereaved family have the sympathy of their many friends in their hour of sorrow.

FindaGrave.com also spells their surname Linnane, and includes a photograph of their headstone, a well as a family photograph. Family information supplied as part of this entry says she was born 1826 in County Cork, Ireland; and that she, her husband and their daughters Mary Ellen (1852-1933) and Kate (born 1856) emigrated from Ireland to Littleport, Clayton County, Iowa in 1866.
