Mattie Peelen, the daughter of Arend and Minnie (Remmerde) Peelen was born at Sioux Center, IA on May 25, 1904. She lived her youth in the Archer area and received her education at a country school north of Archer.
On Jan. 8 1931, she was united in marriage to Laurens Blankers, Jr. at Sheldon, IA. and to this union four sons were born. Following their marriage, they farmed near Archer until moving to Primghar in 1959. In 1984 they entered the Christian Retirement Home at Sheldon, and in June 1987 they came to Primghar Care Center. Mattie passed away at the care center on June 6, 1990.

She is survived by sons and daughters-inlaw; Lauren Arthur and Betty of Nashville, Tenn., Robert and Betty of Hospers; George and Lavonne of Archer, and Donald and Jane of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one brother John Peelen of Sheldon.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Laurens, on June 30, 1989 one brother and one sister.
She was a member of the American Reformed Church, the church Guild and the Friendship Club at Primghar.
