Bernard J. Grady, 83 of Le Mars passed away suddenly Fri. Aug. 10, 2012 at his home in Le Mars.
Bernard Joseph Grady, the son of William C. Grady and Vera (Pollard) Grady, was born on April 16, 1929 in Schuyler, NE. As an adult her made his home in Le Mars, and then served in the U.S. Navy during W W II. On June 24, 1953 Bernard was united in marriage to May Weenink. To this union 4 children were born, Margaret, Patty, Cheryl and Michael. On Aug. 11 1993, Bernard was united in marriage to Berdena Bleeker at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he operated Grady Construction with his brother Bill for several years. From construction industry he began employment with Vince Engle and Earl Utesch at McCormick Distributing Company in Le Mars. Bernard later became co-owner of McCormick's with Marv Albers in 1978. Bernard was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a 50 year member of the American Legion.
Bernard enjoyed watching all types of sports, playing cards, fishing, and golf, and especially meeting up with many close friends for coffee. During the winter months Bernard and Bea spent their time at their home in Surprise, AZ.
He is survived by his wife Berdena of Le Mars, 3 daughters, Margaret Berry and Gerald Reynold of Bowling Green, KY, Patty (Doug) Thoma of Newton, IA, Cheryl (Denny) Van Voorst of Le Mars, IA; a brother, William C. Grady, Jr. (Arlene) of Le Mars, 6 grandchildren He is also survived by Berdena's family Jo and Dave Van Gorp and families of Orange City, IA, Cheryl and Terry Maassen and families of Lincoln, NE and Bob and Mary Bleeker and families of Surprise, AZ.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael in 1972 and a brother, Jerry, a sister, Veronica Cogswell, a niece Geri Ann Grady and a granddaughter, Stephanie Van Voorst.
Interment Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars.
