Born: February 21, 1839
Died: 1926

Herman Beyer was born in Aaiten Nederland, February 21, 1839, in a very humble estate and in depressing hard times and very early in life (at the age of 16 years) assumed the responsibility of providing for his parents and sick brother. From this he soon acquired the habit of economy. At the age of 16 years he went to work in Germany because of better opportunities to provide a living for his dependents and there at the Y.M.C.A. he obtained his education and also learned his trade.

At the age of 33 he married Hendrika Koskamp, from which union seven children were born, of whom 6 are yet alive, one having died in 1918. They immigrated to America in 1892 and located first at Sioux Center then at Hawarden and then at Hull where they spent their last days.

Physically he was always a strong man and a good provider for his family, not having had much sickness till the last few years of his life.

Spiritually he was also strong, having an undaunted love for his Savior, ever since his youth. He was not ashamed to testify for his Savior and to point his children and others to the necessity of being saved through the blood of Christ and also to make intercession for them. Personally his faith in his Savior was ever high and he always felt prepared to meet the end of time while the last year or so he expressed a desire to go Home, where his wife preceded him.

Mother died Memorial Day, 1921; Father died Christmas Day, 1926. Both led a life that may well be an example to others.

We the children stare after them with the blessed hope of meeting them again in the realms where we will part no more.
