Mrs. Lawrence (Marcella) Steffes, 72 of Granville died Wed. in a hospital in Orange City after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Sat. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Granville. The Rev. Francis Nemmers will officiate. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen. The rosary will be recited in the church at 5 p.m. today by the Christian Mothers and at 7:30 p.m. by the parish.
Mrs. Steffes the former Marcella Beckmann, was born Jan. 10, 1914 in rural Granville. and was raised and educated in the area. She married Lawrence Steffes Aug. 4, 1933 at Sioux City. They farmed in the Granville area until Nov. 1965 when they retired and moved into town. He died Oct. 19, 1976.
Mrs. Steffes was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the church guild and Christian Mothers. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Group of Granville.

Survivors include three sons, Marvin of Yankton, S.D.; Darrel of Granville and Emmet of Omaha; two daughters, Mrs. John (Joan) Kaster of Green Bay, Wis. and Mrs. John (Carol) Humes of Davenport; a brother, Leo of Westbrook. MN.; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
