Mrs. J. Hollander died at the home of her children Mr. and Mrs. S. Smid near Boyden last Sunday. Deceased was seventy-five years of age and had been ailing for some time. She was born in the Netherlands and came to this country with her parents and settled at Cincinnati Ohio. In that city she was married to J. Hollander who died a few years ago. Of the ten children born to them the living are: Mrs. J. Moerman and Mrs. S. Smidt of Boyden, Mrs. H. Veldman and Teunis Hollander of Middleburg, and J.J. Hollander of Sheldon. For many years the family resided near this place. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Voortman of Middleburg in the Christian Reformed church here.

J.J. Hollander died at his home at Orange City, Tuesday, December 6th. He suffered a stroke of paralysis on Saturday, December 3 - his birthday. J. J. Hollander was born at Oudenkerk, Netherlands, December 3, 1828 and deceased had reached the ripe old age of 82 years. He moved to the United States in 1850 and made his first home in Cincinnati, Ohio. Here, on November 9, 1856, he was married to Miss Lucia Wynia. Ten children were born to bless this union. In 1877 the family moved to Sioux County making their home on a farm in Sherman Township. In 1901 they came to Orange City where they owned one of the comfortable homes. Deceased is survived by his wife and five children: Mrs. I. Moermond of Boyden; John of Sheldon; Mrs. H. Veldboom, of Middleburg; Teunis of Sioux Center, and Mrs. Simon Smidt of Boyden, and one brother and two sisters, Albert and Mrs. J. Stoughton of near Des Moines and Mrs. B. Cloe of Cincinnati. The funeral services were held from the Christian Reformed Church of which deceased was a faithful member and the services were conducted by Rev. Timmerman, pastor of the Christian Reformed Church. Interment was made at Orange City cemetery.
