Heidebrink, Jeanette "Jean" (Mrs. Clarence) 1920-2016

Mrs. Jeanette Heidebrink, age 95, of Hull, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, June 4, at 1:30pm, at the First Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Kevin Yurk will officiate. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, at 3:45pm, at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday the half-hour before the service at the church.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Jeanette Anna was born on November 4, 1920, at Rock Valley, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Van Geest) Den Hartog. She was raised at Rock Valley, where she graduated from high school.

On March 12, 1941, she married Clarence Heidebrink. She first worked as a civil servant and then assisted Clarence in the operation of a grocery store in Little Rock. She also held various occupations, such as a clerk. They lived in Luverne, Minnesota, for a while, and in later years, they made their home in Hull. In late 2014, they moved to the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Clarence passed away on December 3, 2014, in Sioux Center.

“Jean” was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday school classes. She also served as a foster grandparent at Hope Haven in Rock Valley. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing cards, reading, and caring for her cat.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Jerry Den Hartog and Marlys Heidebrink; and several nephews and nieces, including Paul and Marijo Smit, of Alton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers, Dolly De Stigter, Neal Den Hartog, Richard Den Hartog, Melvin Den Hartog, and Louise Crouse.

Memorials may be directed to the Foster Grandparents program or the church.
