On Saturday of last week cruel death entered the P. L. Schoep home and claimed the oldest child in the family, Johanna, the 21 years old daughter. Mrs. Johanna Schoep was a young woman of fine qualities and her loving disposition made her a general favorite. She will be sadly missed in the home and many many friends are grief stricken. Miss Johanna Schoep was born near Sioux Center on January 3rd 1890. She grew to womanhood here and with the exertion of a few months, lived all her life in Sioux center. About three weeks ago she came down with scarlet fever and later typhoid set in. She battled bravely for three weeks, then succumbed, and passed on.

The funeral services were held Monday and owing to the nature of the disease the services were held on the lawn of the Schoep home. Rev. B. De Jong conducted the services. The remains were laid to rest in the Sioux Center cemetery. Wm. Te Grotenhuis, Wm. Van Steebergen, Conrad Jongewaard, Albert Dykstra, Edward G. De Mots and Fred C. Aue acted as pall bearers. Deceased is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Schoep, two brothers, Andrew and Gerrit, and four sisters, Mary, Louise, Lucile and Harriet. Mrs. Schoep is still very sick with typhoid at this writing and the two sons are down with scarlet fever. All four girls have been sick but are on the road to recovery. The sympathy of the entire community is with the grief stricken and bereaved family.
