MRS. LEO CROAT
Mrs. Leo (Clara) Croat, 81, of Granville, died Sunday in a hospital in Orange City after a brief illness. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph’ s Catholic Church in Granville. The Rev. Francis Nemmers officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen. There was a scriptural service at 5 p.m. and the rosary was recited at 8 p.m. in the church.

Mrs. Croat, the former Clara Hodapp, was born June 29, 1902, in Granville and was a lifelong area resident. She married Leo Croat Nov. 24, 1926, in Milford. They farmed in the Granville area until 1965 when they retired to town. He died Dec. 31, 1969. She had been resident at the Happy Siesta Retirement Home in Remsen since April of 1983.

Mrs. Croat was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Church Group and the Senior Citizens Group. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Emil (Alice) Budden of Granville; a brother, William of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
