Leone Frances Coonrod, 84, of Rock Valley, died Wednesday, March 2, 1994, at her daughter's home in Rock Valley. Services were held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Valley, with burial at noon Saturday in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Hartington, Neb., the Rev. Donald R. Smith officiating. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley handled arrangements.

Mrs. Coonrod was born April 2, 1909, at East Bow, Neb., daughter of John and Augusta (Ryan) McFadden. They moved to Hartington, where she attended the Convent School. She graduated
from Coleridge (Neb.) High School, and earned her RN degree at St. Vincent's School of Nursing in Sioux City. She married Cliff "Bud" Coonrod in Rock Valley Nov. 7, 1932. They lived in Sioux City, then at Laurel, Neb., where she worked for Dr. R.P. Carroll, then at Jackson, Minn., where she worked at a hospital and medical clinic. Leone and Cliff moved to Phoenix in 1967, where they were apartment managers. Due to Mr. Coonrod's illness, they moved back to Minnesota, where he died in 1986. She remained at Janesville, Minn., until moving to her daughter's home in Rock Valley.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Gary and Jeanette of Goshen. Ind., and Clifford and Nona of Janesville; her daughter, JoAnn Kersbergen of Rock Valley; three grandsons, three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Rita Williamson of Tucson, Ariz. She was also preceded in death by a stepfather, Emil C. Hoefer, a sister, Mary Hirsclunan, and a grandson, John E. Coonrod
