Funeral Services For Former Doon Resident Held

Funeral services for Laurence Gorter, 63, were held Monday at the Methodist church at Pipestone, Minn. Mr. Gorter was a former Doon resident. The Rev. Edgar Hoekelboer, pastor of the Christian Reformed church, officiated and burial was in the Hillside cemetery at Edgerton, Minn., under the direction of the Paula funeral home. Mr. Gorter died Friday at his home after a heart attack. He was born August 30, 1892 in Sioux County. February 10, 1916 he married Annie Oostra and the couple farmed near Doon for several years. In 1942 they moved to Pipestone County and farmed until moving into town four years ago.

Survivors include; the widow, three daughters, Mrs. Louis Stevens of Edgerton, Mrs. Harold Ford of Wichita, Kan-, and Mrs. Dick Van Hofwegen of Pipestone, Minn.; four sons, Lawrence of Woodstock, Minn., John, Peter, and Clarence of Pipestone; one sister and five brothers and 17 grandchildren.
