Domnick was born on August 11, 1855 at Gobelingen, Grand Duchy of Luxenberg.

On January 25,1876, Domnick Berg married Catherine Moos in Winona, Illinois. They lived in Holy Cross, Wisconsin where Domnick was a carpenter.

In 1882, they moved to Alton and remained there until 1885. From there they moved to Granville.

In Granville, Domnick had a saloon. His family also ran a hotel and lived on the first floor with sleeping rooms upstairs.

Domnick and Catherine had seven children:
Margaret Berg Winkel, Susan Berg Orr, John Berg, Virginia Berg,Bernard "Ben" Berg, Marie Berg Oliver, and Henry Berg.

Burial was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Granville, Sioux County, Iowa.
