Birth: June 16, 1870
Death: April 22, 1931

Mrs. John H. Beltman passed away Wednesday morning at the farm home two miles south and a half mile west of the Orange City academy. She had been ill for about six weeks, caused by diabetes and complication, and during the past few weeks was slowly sinking, so that the end was not unexpected.

Jacomina Alida "Minnie" Van Amerongen was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. Amerongen of Orange City, and was born at Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in the year 1870. She was 60 years, 10 months and 6 days of age at the time of her passing. Coming to America in 1887, the family settled at Orange City, her father investing in farm lands, in this section which soon greatly increased in price.

She was married to Mr. John H. Beltman at Orange City on March 6, 1800, and nine children came to gladden their home, one dying in infancy. Besides the bereaved husband, she is survived by eight children.

One sister, Mrs. Gysbert Reinders, of Orange City, is the only member of her family surviving. There are 21 grandchildren.

Mrs. Beltman lived for several years in Alton, when she and her husband decided to try town life for awhile, and they still own the residence here, but a couple of years ago decided to return to the beautiful farm home south of Orange City which they had called home for so many years.

The Alton Democrat joins with the host of friends of the family in sympathy to the bereaved husband and children in their great loss. Mrs. Beltman had been a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City for a great many years and will be missed greatly by her host of friends there also.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. John H. Beltman will be held this Friday afternoon at the home and at the First Reformed Church, Orange City.
