Joseph Baune, passed away early Friday morning at the age of 28 years after an illness which became acute last May. Worried over his condition, he became very ill last week and was taken to Cherokee for treatment. He died at the hospital there in less than a week after his arrival. He leaves his wife and 22 month old daughter, Viola, who have the sympathy of the entire community in the sd death of the young husband and father. He is also survived by his father, C. Baune and Mrs. C. Baune, two brothers, Henry and Andrew; one sister, Mary; and three half-brothers and sisters, Cletus, Marinus and Sylveria.

Joseph Baune was born 28 years ago on March 5th on the home farm southeast of Alton, where he has lived all his life. The oldest of the family, when his parents came to town to live, he and his brother remained on the farm. His mother died 17 years ago. He was married a few years ago to Miss Anna Plagge, and one child, a daughter, was born to them. Joe, as he was known to his family and many friends, was an honest, industrious young farmer and hard-working and devoted to his family.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:00 o‘clock at St. Mary’s Church, with , Reverend F.J. Brune officiating. Among the many relatives and friends here from away for the funeral were Messrs and Mesdames Ed Baune, Lawrence and Raymond Baune, Joe’s fourth cousins and their families, George Hammerulth and Joe Hagar, all of Wabasse, Minnesota; Mrs. Frank Giusbach and three children, Joe Plagge and family of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; Henry Baune, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nothem, Mrs. Simonsins, Joe Bohike, Tony Willienburg, all of Remsen; Will Bobike of Granville; Frank Bobike and Nick Weis of Oyens; and many other friends.
