Mrs. Minnie Caswell, age 98, of Hull, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, January 16, at 10:30am, at the American Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Katie Van Veldhuizen will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Friday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Minnie, who was named Wilhelmina, was born on March 31, 1917, at Sioux Center, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Schuiteman) Kruizenga. She was raised at Sioux Center, where she attended school.

On February 25, 1938, she married George Caswell in Sioux Center. They made their home in Hull, where she was a homemaker. He passed away in 1975.

Mrs. Caswell also supervised the lunches at the Boyden-Hull Community Schools for 36 years. In 2002, she became a resident of the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon. She transferred to Pleasant Acres in October of 2011.

She was a member of the American Reformed Church. She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards. She encouraged others to participate in care center activities.

Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Darwin “Herb” and Hester Caswell, of Le Mars; and George and Muriel Caswell, of Enid, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Rhonda Caswell, Shari Beitelspacher, Amy and Rob Roff, Molly and Rick Sodja, and Grant Caswell; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and her sister, Dorothy Wynia, of Sioux Center.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Art Kruizenga.

Memorials will be directed to the church.
