Margaret A. Dirks, 98, of Le Mars and formerly of Ireton and Hawarden died Wednesday, August 24, 1994 at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Ireton with the Rev. Perry Schefelcker officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. Visitation will begin at noon Friday with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Ireton.

Mrs. Dirks was born June 19, 1896 near Ireton the daughter of John and Helene (Hussman) Renken. She married Fred Dirks on July 15, 1915 at Ireton. They farmed for 3 years near Chester, SD, for 21 years near Ireton, for 5 years near Chatsworth, and returned to the Ireton area. They retired to Hawarden in 1953. Fred died April 9, 1970. She has been a resident at (he Brentwood Good Samaritan Center for the past 7 years. She was a lifelong member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include 2 sons and their wives, Darrel and Neva of Cardnerville, NV, Carlyle "Swede" and Ihlo of Orange City; 6 daughters, Mildred and her husband Ed Burleson of Lodi, CA, Reva and her husband Arthur Albright of Hinton, Myrna Howard of Sioux City, Pearl and her husband Albeit Eilers of Grand Marsh, WI, Delia and her husband Scott Busch of Longmont, CO; a daughterin- law, Arlene and her husband Dale Schulz of Le Mars; 28 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Howard; a grandson, Duane Dirks; a son-in-law, Vern Howard; 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
