Jim joined his favorite horse, Gypsy, on November 12, 2003, to ride off to heaven from Midlothian, Texas. Services for James Richard Liston, 63, were Saturday, November 15, at the Midlothian Funeral Home with the Reverend Samuel Carreon officiating. Burial was at the Midlothian Cemetery. A memorial was held in his honor at the Associated Church in Hawarden on Monday.

James was born on April 9, 1940 to Olen and Tessa (Jager) Liston in Hawarden. He owned Liston Construction in Hawarden until 1985 when he opted for warmer weather and moved to Texas. There he worked as a heavy equipment operator until his death.

James is survived by his wife Karen; son, James Liston, Jr., of Fort Worth; daughter, Debbie and husband Kirk Busch, Betty Groenemeyer, Darlene Rummel and Cindy McKee; granddaughters, Jamie, Steffanie, Kelli and Karri and great-grandson, Cayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Daryl, Lloyd, Howard, Roger, Duane, Lawrence “Honk”, and sister, Vivian.
