Last Rites for Mrs. Collenbaugh Friday Afternoon

Death claimed another Rock Valley pioneer Mrs. J. M. Collenbaugh died at her home at the age of 85 after a long illness. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church. Burial will be at the River View cemetery at Rock Rapids. Mrs J M. Collenbaugh {nee Eliza Jane Spurrell), eldest daughter of Walter and Virginia Spurrell was born at Prescott, Clinton County, Iowa, July 19,1868. She was united in marriage to John Martin Collenbaugh at Ida Grove, Iowa Oct. 19, 1887. They moved to Rock Rapids in the spring of 1888 living, there until 1901 when the family moved to Rock Valley, where they have since resided, Mrs. Collenbaugh was a member of the Methodist church , and the auxiliary of the V. F W. To this union five children were born; Charles who died in infancy, Fred, Paul, Ethel (Mrs. Dick Wesselink) and (Mabel Mrs. Oney McElroy, all of Rock Valley.
Besides her children and husband she leaves to mourn in passing one grandson John Paul Collenbaugh of Rock Valley, one sister, Mrs. Charles Beem of Ogden, IA.
