Gladys Marie Sorlye, 72, of Hawarden, died Saturday, April 23, 1994, at a Sioux City hospital. Services were Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Karla Kirkeby officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Visitation was Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sorlye, the former Gladys Mohlman, was born February 18, 1922, in Plymouth County, near
Chatsworth, the daughter of John and Marie (Meins) Mohlman. She married Leo Sorlye May 18, 1940. The couple made their home in Hudson, SD. He died January 10, 1975, and she moved to Hawarden in 1976. She was employed for 22 years at Coilcraft in Hawarden. Mrs. Sorlye was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden.

Survivors include a son, Ron Sorlye and his wife, Millie of Hawarden; a daughter, Susan Ericson and her husband, Bart of Alcester; three sisters, Edna Boyles and her husband, Guy; Helen Jamtgaard and Irene Paul, all of Hawarden; two grandchildren, Lisa Doescher and her husband, Chris of O'Fallon, MO; and Laura Sorlye and her fiance, Brian Thee of Hickory, NC; and two great-granddaughters, Hillary and Courtney Doescher. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Leora Camber.
