Leo W. Schumacher
Leo William Schumacher, 73, of Hawarden, died Thursday, January 6, 1994, at a Sioux City hospital. Services were Monday, January 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hawarden, with the Rev. Edmond Adams officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home, Hawarden, followed by a prayer service at St. Mary's Parish Hall.

Mr. Schumacher was born June 28, 1920, in Sioux County, on a farm near Chatsworth, son of Anthony J. and Anna (Heider) Schumacher. He married Dorothy Anderson February 16, 1944, at St. Mary's Church. They farmed near Alcester, until moving to Hawarden in 1969. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Lawrence of Hawarden, Anthony and his wife Lois of Le Mars, and Alan and his wife Cheryl of Pukwana, SD; three daughters, Charlene Schumacher of Hawarden, Teresa and her husband Ivan Huenink of Ireton, and Mary Schumacher of Rock Valley; a brother, Greg of Beresford; a sister, Clara Busch of Hawarden; 18 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Anthony, George, Lawrence, Joseph and Peter, and a sister, Catherine Rembe.
