Malena Van Putten, 87, of Sioux Center died Sunday, October 17, at her home in Sioux Center.

Services will be at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, October 20, at Faith Christian Reformed Church, Sioux Center, with the Rev. Mark De Witt officiating.

The former Malena Bruinsma was born June 24, 1906, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Bert and Jessie (De Groot) Bruinsma. She married Gerrit Van Putten on February 16, 1927, in Sioux Center. He died May 2, 1972.

She was a long time member of First Reformed Church and active in the Priscilla Circle.

Survivors include three daughters, Everna (Mrs. John) Ver Maat of Mesa, Arizona; Shirley (Mrs. Bill) Muilenburg of Orange City, and Linda (Mrs. Merlyn) Rensink of Sioux Center; one brother, Sam Bruinsma of Sioux Center; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son in infancy in 1928; five brothers, Joe, Dick, Lane, Bert and Renny; and one sister, Elsie Mouw.

Malena Van Putten, 87, of Sioux Center, died Sunday, October 17, 1993, at her home in Sioux Center.Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, at Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Mark DeWitt officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Visitation was held Tuesday, October 19, at Vander Ploeg Chapel, Sioux Center.

Mrs. Van Putten was born June 24, 1906, in Sioux Center, the daughter of Bert and Jessie (DeGroot) Bruinsma. She married Gerrit Van Putten February 16, 1927, in Sioux Center. He died May 2, 1972. Mrs. Van Putten was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center and was active in Priscilla Circle.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. John (Everna) Ver Maat of Mesa, AZ; Mrs. Bill (Shirley) Muilenburg of Orange City; and Mrs. Merlyn (Linda) Rensink of Sioux Center; 10 grandchildren;15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Sam Bruinsma of Sioux Center.
