E.L. Aldrich of this city passed away suddenly in Sioux City at 5:57 last Friday evening just after he had left the Tribune building where he had been discussing business matters with his employer. Mr. Aldrich had been ailing for the past six years but he had been able to attend to his work until Thursday, December 6th, when he suffered a severe heart attack after which he was confined to his home for several days. He went to Sioux City last Friday afternoon on the train and after he had discussed business matters with his employer at the Tribune building he left and as he reached the street he was stricken with an attack, passing away almost immediately. His remained were brought to Hawarden that night.

Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Mary's church in this city with Reverend Father J.M. Neppel in charge. Interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery here.

Eber Loomis Aldrich was born at Lone Rock, Wisconsin, March 12, 1883, and passed away December 14, 1934, having attained the age of 51 years, 9 months and 2 days. He was left an orphan at the age of two and from then until he was 8 years old he lived with his grandmother, when he came to Rock Rapids and made his home with an uncle. When a young man he went to Cherokee where for 15 years he was employed as a brakeman and conductor by the Illinois Central Railway Company. He was united in marriage with Carolyn Kachelhoffer of Rock Rapids October 6, 1908, and to this union were born seven children. In 1918 he gave up railway work because of his health and the family moved to Boone, Iowa, where he was employed by the Des Moines Register-Tribune. Some over a year and a half ago the family came to Hawarden and since they came here he has been employed as district circulation manager by the Sioux City Tribune.

He is survived by his wife and seven children, Joseph, Anthony, Glenn, Gene, Robert and Edward of Hawarden and Miss Edith of Boone, Iowa. He also leaves one brother, Reverend Ira D. Aldrich of Tillamook, Oregon, and one sister, Mrs. C.E.B. Roberts of Rupert, Idaho.

Mr. Aldrich was of a quiet, unassuming disposition and during his residence here he made friends with those with whom he came in contact. His sudden death comes as a severe blow to the members of his family and sincere sympathy is extended to them in their hour of sorrow.
