John Oostra, age 87, of Holland formerly of Jenison and North West Iowa son of John and Kate (Van Surksum) Oostra, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Hospice House of Holland. He was a member of Twelfth Avenue Christian Reformed Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (De Kam) Oostra in 1998.

He is survived by his children: Marlene and Jack Huls of Lansing Romona and Darrel Vander Ark of Holland 7 Grandchildren 8 Great grandchildren Jack and Kathryn Huls; Nicholas, Anthony and Ezekiel Carol Huls; JoAnne Huls; Amy and Steve TerHaar; Allison and Eric Lisa Mills; Ellen; Marisa and Paul Brinks; Alyssa and Austin; Ryan and Jamie Kloosterman Brothers and sisters: Richard(Geraldine)Oostra of Sioux Center, Iowa, Ralph (Henrietta) Oostra of Hull, Iowa, Marinus (Alice) Oostra of Linden, Washington, Mary Grooters of Hull, Iowa, Ruth Van Engen of Sioux Center, Iowa, Gerald Oostra of Sheldon, Iowa, Jacob (Teresa) Oostra of Rock Valley, Iowa, William (Lois) Oostra of Winneconne, Wisconsin Andrew (Wilmina) Oostra of Rock Valley, Iowa Robert (Muriel) Oostra of Hull, Iowa Brother and sisters in law: Gerrit Van Maanen of Seal Beach, California Francis Boer of Rock Valley, Iowa, Martina Kragt of Rock Valley, Iowa Jennie De Kam of Rock Valley, Iowa, Carolina De Kam of Rock Valley, Iowa; many nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 19, 2006 at Lakeshore Memorial Services 11939 James Street in Holland. Reverend Henry Van Wyk will be officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Township Cemetery.
