Mr. Douglas Reuvers, age 49, of rural Boyden, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015, at his farm home after a courageous battle with cancer.
There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, December 30, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Boyden. The Rev. David Poppen and the Rev. Craig Broek will officiate. Internment will follow at the Sheridan Township Cemetery near Boyden. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, at the CHURCH.
Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.
Douglas Jay was born on September 14, 1966, in Sheldon, the son of Henry Junior and Helen Marie (Westra) Reuvers. He was raised in rural Boyden, where he graduated from the Boyden-Hull High School. He also attended Northwestern College in Orange City and the Nettleton Business School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
On August 11, 2000, he married Melody Rose Broek in Ireton. They made their home in Sioux Center for a year and then moved to the Reuvers family farm near Boyden, which he operated.
Doug was a member of the First Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory as a deacon. He was also a loved youth sponsor for many years, an audio-video technician, and a singer in the choir.
In addition, he was a member of the school board of the Boyden-Hull Schools. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially his sons, he was a wonderful father and husband.
Survivors include his wife of over fifteen years; two sons, Damion, age 13, and Josiah, age 10, both at home; his parents, of Boyden; three brothers and their wives, Tom and Bobby Reuvers, of Boyden; Jerry and Mary Beth Reuvers, of Orange City; and Dennis and Tracie Reuvers, of Rock Rapids; a sister and her husband, Marcia and John Neely, of Moville; his parents-in-law, Jay and Marlene Broek, of Sioux Center; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Douglas and Audrey Broek, of Ireton; and Craig and Jeanine Broek, of Denver, Colorado; and many nephew and nieces, other relatives, and friends.
