Kevin Hatting, 57, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 28, 2015 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2016 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church. Reverend Paul Eisele will celebrate Mass with Deacon Dan Goebel assisting. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2015, with a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at St. Joseph Church. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church. Arrangements are with the Carlsen-Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials made to the Kevin and Leann Hatting Memorial Fund, c/o Northwest Bank, 111 Central Ave. NW, Le Mars, IA 51031.
Kevin Eldon Hatting was born October 14, 1958 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Eldon and Diana (Klein) Hatting. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alton. He attended school at Spalding Catholic in Granville, Iowa and graduated in 1977.
He married the love of his life, Leann Holles, on March 31, 1979, and they lived in Le Mars where they raised their children Karen and Matt. His family was his greatest love. Being called “Bomba” by his twin grandchildren always brought a smile to his face. He enjoyed camping at Lake Okoboji in the summer, hunting in the fall and playing cards with family and friends. His heart was forever broken when Leann passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2015 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. They were members of All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church.
Kevin will be remembered for his generosity and his willingness to help others. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand, his tools or time. Kevin has been a loyal employee of Wells’ Blue Bunny for over 37 years.
Survivors include his daughter: Karen (Eric) Smidt of Ames, Iowa and their children, Elias and Katelyn; his son: Matt (Laura) Hatting of Ankeny, Iowa; two brothers: Kirk (Patty) Hatting of Le Mars, Iowa and Keith (Ann) Hatting of Omaha, NE; three sisters in law: Toni (Bruce) Rimbo of Lake Quivera, KS, Faye Kellen of Ames, IA, and Marguerite (Chuck) Penning of Sioux City, Iowa; a brother in law: Lloyd (Betty) Holles of Lincoln, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leann; parents, Eldon and Diana Hatting; in-laws, Clarence and Leona Holles; and a sister in law, Carol Condon.
