Kelly was born on September 17, 1968 in Sheldon, Iowa. Kelly lived her youth in Primghar and Alton, Iowa. She graduated from Floyd Valley High School in Alton, Iowa in 1987.
She attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Art. At Northwestern College, Kelly met her future husband, Dan Meharg. Later, she received her certificate in Graphic Design at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island.
Dan and Kelly married May 8, 1993 in Sioux City, Iowa at the Assembly of God Church. To this marriage, two daughters were welcome, Olivia Lee and Maya Lauryn.
Kelly worked as a Park Ranger and caretaker of the elderly. Kelly recently assisted with the painting of several murals at her girls school. She was a talented artist; working in painting, pottery, rustic furniture making, and graphic design. Her last project was clay Christmas ornaments she made with her girls.
Kelly hobbies included painting, exploring nature (especially at Cape Cod), and most of all spending time with the loves of her life--her daughters.
Kelly and her family attended Long Hill Chapel in Chatham Township, New Jersey.
Kelly is survived by her husband, Dan, and two cherished daughters, Olivia and Mya. She is also survived by her parents, Larry and Audrey Kleinhesselink, siblings Tammy Anderson, Loren (Teri), Mike (Rachel), Jesse (Kristi), sister-in-law Bonnie, grandmother Bertha Kleinhesselink; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Kelly is predeceased by her grandparents, Joe Kleinhesselink, Arie & Harriet Noteboom, and her brother Matthew.
Visiting was on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 10-11 A.M. at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Madison, New Jersey. Interment was private.
A Memorial Service for Kelly was held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Long Hill Chapel, 525 Shunpike Road, Chatham Township, New Jersey 07928.
A second Memorial Service will be held on January 18, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Alton Reformed Church, 305 8th Street, Alton, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations can be made to an educational fund established for Kelly’s two young daughters. Please make checks out to Dan Meharg and mail them to the Funeral Home. The Funeral Home will ensure checks are delivered to Dan Meharg.
